Welcome to my web site

I will try and keep everything current and “live” so check it out. But first a bit about me:

I started practicing yoga in 1989 and started teaching in 1994. In 1996 I co-founded the Diablo Yoga Center in Danville, CA., and graduated from the Advance Studies Program at the Yoga Room in Berkeley, CA. For many years I was a dancer with the Yoga Garden Dancers, a yoga dance company that performed around the country. Our performances took us to places like Estes Park, Co., for the yoga conference and to Arizona, San Francisco and many other venues. In addition, I have 10 years experience as a personal training and working with seniors at YMCA in Berkeley.

I’ve had the great honor of studying under Donald Moyer, Mary Lou Weprin, Sarah Powers, and Tony Briggs. I’ve also taken classes, workshops and retreats with Bryan Kest, Baron Bapiste, Aadil Palkhivala, Ana Forest, John Friend, Richard Rosen, Dona Holleman and many others.

I try to keep myself challenged so my classes will be challenging as well. I teach many different styles of yoga fused together to create many ways to stay on the mat and be present. Whether I’m teaching Restorative and Yin classes or Yoga Movement and Power classes, it’s all with a strong Iyengar background. Plus my favorites are still any and all Inversions. I just love being upside down. (What does that say about me?!)

I’ve always trusted my teachers and I try to instill that in my classes. Trust that I will create a space that you can feel safe and know that your journey with me with be filled with laughter and a deep sense of calm and peace. Plus opening your tight shoulders and hips wouldn’t be bad either. I will honor wherever you are with your practice and work toward what you want to achieve.

I have just relocated to  Myrtle Beach, SC close to where I grew up and to be closer to my family. I still make trips back to California for retreats and workshops, so keep checking this site for updates.

See you in class.

Namaste,

Lauren
